Co-Heirs with Christ
“…since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.”
In Romans 8, the Apostle Paul unveils a profound reality - believers are not just recipients of freedom but co-heirs with Christ. We’ve probably all seen the misadventures of spoilt heirs and heiresses in tabloids and online. But our heirship with Christ is not a privileged position to squander, sitting back and selfishly enjoying, but an invitation - to partner with God.
As co-heirs with Christ, our inheritance is not static but dynamic. Rather than revolving around our personal gain, we are invited to step into a call to mission. Like Christ, we are called to participate in the redemptive work of bringing Heaven to Earth.
Consider the gravity of this truth. Your inheritance in Christ is not only a privilege but a responsibility - an invitation to actively engage in the transformative mission of God. Embrace your role in extending the kingdom of God on Earth, recognising that, as a co-heir with Christ, your life is intricately connected to the unfolding narrative of redemption. In pursuing freedom for ourselves and others, we find true life in an upside-down Kingdom.
How does understanding your identity as a co-heir with Christ impact how you view your purpose and mission in the world?
